Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2 September 2026

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data solvX collects when you use the solvx.uk website and its subdomains (including splitfire.solvx.uk and bangbop.solvx.uk), and the games, tools and other services we make available (together, the "Services"). It sits alongside our Terms of Service.

solvX is an independent project operated from the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK GDPR, solvX is the data controller for the data described here. You can contact us at any time at captain@solvx.uk.

2. The short version

We deliberately collect very little. You do not need an account to use anything on the site. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. What we do collect is aggregate information about which pages and links people visit, so we can tell whether anything we publish is being read.

3. What we collect

Website analytics. When you visit a page we record a small, first-party analytics event. This covers the page visited, the approximate time, the referring site or campaign parameters if you arrived from a link we published, and general technical information your browser sends with every request (browser type, operating system, screen size and language). To count unique visitors without identifying you, we derive a short, one-way hash from your IP address combined with a value that rotates each month; we do not store your IP address itself, that hash cannot be turned back into it, and we do not record or look up your location.

Tracked link clicks. Links we publish on social media use a short solvx.uk/go/… address that redirects to the destination. When you follow one we record that the click happened, which link it was, and when. This tells us which platform someone came from — not who they are.

Anything you choose to send us. If you email us, your email address and message are held for as long as needed to deal with it.

Enquiry forms. The service pages (video production, game development and 3D animation) have a short enquiry form. If you submit it, we receive what you type — a description of what you want to make, the current stage or brief, an approximate budget or project scale, your email, and your name if you choose to give it — together with which service the form was for. We use this only to reply to your enquiry, and keep it for as long as needed to do so and for a reasonable period afterwards.

Games. Our browser games generally run entirely in your browser and do not require an account. Where a game keeps a score, a setting or similar, that is normally stored locally in your own browser and is not sent to us.

4. What we do NOT collect

5. Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We use this data to understand which content is worth making, to see which platforms send people to the site, to keep the Services working and secure, and to reply to messages you send us.

Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interests — specifically, understanding audience and performance at an aggregate level in a way that has minimal privacy impact, because we do not identify individuals or share the data. Where you email us, the basis is your own decision to make contact.

6. Cookies and local storage

The Services use only what is necessary to function, plus the first-party analytics described above. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. Games may use your browser's local storage to remember settings or progress on your own device; that data stays in your browser and you can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

7. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it with advertisers.

We use third-party providers to host and run the site (for example, hosting and content-delivery providers), and they process data strictly on our behalf. Where our services are hosted or delivered outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Publicly visible activity — for example a comment you leave on one of our videos or a reply on a social platform — is governed by that platform's own privacy policy, not this one. If we quote or respond to public engagement in our own content, we are working with information you have already made public on that platform.

8. Social platforms and our publishing tools

solvX publishes to platforms including YouTube, X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram and TikTok, using our own tooling and our own accounts on those platforms. That tooling reads and posts our content and our own accounts' statistics. It does not collect personal data about you, and it does not access other people's accounts.

If you have arrived at this page from a platform's developer or app listing: the application in question posts videos to solvX's own account on that platform, authorised by solvX. It requests no access to other users' data.

9. How long we keep it

Analytics and link-click records are kept for as long as they remain useful for understanding performance, and are reviewed periodically. Emails are kept for as long as needed to handle the matter and for a reasonable period afterwards. We delete or anonymise data when it no longer serves the purpose it was collected for.

10. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it.

In practice we usually hold nothing that identifies you personally, so there may be nothing to retrieve — but ask, and we will tell you honestly what we have. Email captain@solvx.uk.

You can also complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you think we have handled your data improperly. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

11. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect the data we hold, including serving the site over HTTPS and keeping credentials for our own accounts private. No system is perfectly secure, but the best protection here is that we hold very little in the first place.

12. Children

The Services are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the Services change. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be made obvious on the site rather than slipped in quietly.

14. Contact
